Most of us have limiting perceptions about ourselves and replay the same story in our minds.

We find ourselves saying things like…

This always happens TO ME.

I always gain the weight back I lose.

I can’t afford this.

I’ve never been good with money.

This is where things always fall apart.

I’m too old.

I could never do that.

I don’t know how to do that.

I’ve caught myself reciting these self-limiting phrases and you probably have as well.

Some of us would never talk to another person the way we talk to ourselves.

So how do we increase our sense of deserving and change the story we tell ourselves?

First, we must see ourselves as the architect of our own lives and not the victim of our circumstances.

If we don’t like the results we see then we need to look particularly at our thoughts and release patterns of thinking or behavior that are not in harmony with the image of the life we want to live.

When we shift the perception of ourselves from lack, limitation, and overwhelm then we will have access to abundance in every area of our life.

Here are three keys to increasing your sense of deserving:

  1. Focus on your successes.

Make a list of your successes at the end of every day, at the end of the week, at the end of the month, and at the end of the year.

Whenever you have feelings of limitation then remember how you felt in a previous success and step into that feeling tone of yourself as that successful person.

2. Let go of past mistakes and old stories.

It’s hard to move confidently into the life you’ve imagined if you are lugging dead weight.

When you persist in carrying the heavy baggage of your childhood, your shame, or your belief that you are unlovable then you have no room for the good to come in.

Past mistakes and missed opportunities are over and done with.

You will feel a great sense of freedom and lightness when you let go of the past and what no longer serves you and that will allow more space for what you truly do want in your life.

3. Practice gratitude.

Implement a gratitude practice into your day.

Write a list of 5-10 things you are grateful for in your life.

Gratitude increases our sense of deserving and allows more flow and expansion in areas where we may be stuck.

Have an “attitude of gratitude” no matter what is going on in your life.

There’s always something good to be grateful for so always look for the good.

When you practice these three principles, you will feel your sense of deserving increase and you’ll begin to attract good things your mind and heart desires.

You have unlimited potential and have the power to create whatever you want to.

You can’t go back and change what’s happened in your life but you can change your perception and relationship to those circumstances with practice and persistence.
